Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the NoBookEnds app for iOS and Android ("the app") and the nobookends.com website, published by DanCue Digital LLC ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The app

NoBookEnds is a client for Audiobookshelf servers. It lets you browse, play, read and track progress for content stored on a server that you run or have permission to use. The app does not provide, sell or host any books or audio content.

Audiobookshelf is an independent open source project. NoBookEnds is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Audiobookshelf project. Other product names are the trademarks of their owners.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and to the rules of the store you downloaded it from. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except where the law allows it), resell or redistribute the app.

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its support; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

3. Your content and your server

  • You are responsible for the content on the servers you connect to, and for having the rights to access it.
  • You are responsible for your server, its security and your sign-in details. Use the app only with servers you are allowed to use.
  • We are not responsible for the availability, behavior or data of any Audiobookshelf server.

4. Purchases

  • Premium ($9.99) and Premium Family ($17.99) are one-time, non-consumable purchases that unlock the features described in the app for as long as the app is offered. Prices are shown in US dollars and may vary by region.
  • Free trial. Premium may include a 3-day free trial. The store shows the trial terms before you confirm.
  • Tips are voluntary one-time payments and do not unlock features.
  • Supporter ($0.99 per month) is an auto-renewing subscription with cosmetic and community perks. It renews each month until you cancel, and is charged to your store account. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings to avoid the next charge.
  • All payments are processed by Apple or Google under their terms. Refunds are handled by them through their usual processes.
  • We may change prices or the features included in a plan for future purchases. Features you have already purchased will not be taken away because of a price change.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the app to break the law, to access servers or content you are not authorized to access, or to interfere with the app, the stores or our services.

6. Changes and availability

We may update, change or stop offering parts of the app. Features can depend on your Audiobookshelf server version, your device and your operating system. We will try to give notice of significant changes.

7. Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted or error free, or that it will work with every server or file.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, DanCue Digital LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, content or profits, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your license if you break these terms. Sections 3, 7, 8 and 10 survive termination.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which DanCue Digital LLC is organized, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
